Bristol Actuaries Dining Society

Since the late 1970s, BADS has provided actuaries from the Bristol area with the opportunity to discuss topical issues, catch up with the latest gossip, and develop their professional networks over a few drinks and a nice meal. Dinners are friendly and informal, and membership is free.

We aim to meet six times a year in venues chosen by the members, ranging from fine dining to country pubs. Places we have visited in the last couple of years include the Clifton Sausage, The Cowshed, Boco Pizzeria, Wild Beer Cheltenham, Hope & Anchor, Rosemarino, Kathmandu, The Olive Shed, and The Albion.

We either meet immediately after a main BAS event, or on a mutually convenient alternative date. Our dates for 2018/19 are as follows:

Wed 24th January 2018 - Kathmandu
Thu 22nd March 2018 - Olive Shed
Tue 22nd May 2018 - Bulrush
Sat 4th August - "Summer Outing" (postponed)
Wed 19th Sep 2018 - The Spiny Lobster
Thu 15th Nov 2018 - The Ivy (Clifton Village)
Wed 20th Mar 2019 - Rosemarino, Clifton
Thu 23rd May 2019

Our venue is decided by popular vote (with a complex tie-break system!), the top-ten (plus ties) as at today's date are:

1 - Rosemarino, Clifton - 3 vote(s)
2 - Wilks - 2 vote(s)
2 - The Nettle and Rye - 2 vote(s)
4 - Athena (Westbury) - 2 vote(s)
5 - Grain Barge - 2 vote(s)
6 - Bulrush - 2 vote(s)
7 - Sam's Chop House (Manchester†) - 1 vote(s)
7 - The Rummer - 1 vote(s)
7 - Birch (Southville) - 1 vote(s)
7 - James Martin Manchester† - 1 vote(s)
7 - Mario & Gianni (Manchester†) - 1 vote(s)

We normally meet in Bristol († although when a mutually convenient date arises there could well be a meal in Manchester!) at 7.00 for 7.30pm.

If you are a qualified actuary in or around Bristol, and fancy the occasional evening out sampling local restaurants with like-minded people, then please email Paul Bowden to register your interest or for further details.

Footnote: The regular BADS attendees would like to thank Andrew Gustar for looking after the 'society' for 10 succesful years (2007-2016).
